Ode To Dreaming

girl on beach, in the water.

It’s been quiet in my mind.
Throwing stones to pass the time.
I’ve been Swimming near the shore
But maybe, deep down, I want more.
I see you across the way.
But it’s safer near the bay.

scared of winter, and the snow,
falls so soft and bites me slow
walking on thin ice again,
won’t be your pawn and let you win.
Would you check me because you can?
Or kneel to kiss my frostbitten hands?

This could be my blue greens.
Summertime lake laughing.
underneath the sun’s bright gaze,
Rise and fall the rest of my days.
breath of spring strong and bare
lips like honey free of care
Once my aching hands believed

It was winter’s fall and summer’s spring.

I’m trying to take my time.
Make sure every syllable rhymes.
Can’t dive in, Can’t be sure
Am I ready to open this door?
Tainted time, and all its lies,
But there’s truth in life’s warm eyes.

It was winter’s fall and summer’s spring.

Your blue greens paint my daydreams
I’m wading in your seas,
the waters rising past my knees.

This could be my blue greens.
Summertime lake laughing,
Underneath the moon’s dark haze,
Waning into my favorite phase
Breath of fall quiet and fair
Mind like leaves crisp with care
Once my aching hands believed

It was winter’s fall and summer’s spring.
